Poor Tom
Poor Tom is a project which reimagines the character of Edgar/Poor Tom from Shakespeare’s King Lear, with a particular focus on the Dover Cliff scene. The project was in part a collaboration between Tom de Freston and Professor Simon Palfrey (Oxford University). It was further developed as part of de Freston’s Creative Fellowship at Birmingham University (2016-17). Commissions, exhibitions and a publication were produced with the RSC, the Guardian, the Bodleian Library and Battersea Arts Centre. Two short documentary films were made by Unmarked Films about various aspects of the project.
